The Rabbit Trap
Bitcoin and the Beast?
Grey Rabbit and False Teaching
I don’t care if people post conspiracy theories about Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin. I don’t care if they claim the NSA built backdoors into Bitcoin to steal your money. And I won’t lose any sleep if they think Jeffrey Epstein funded the Bitcoin Foundation. None of this is true, and I will debunk the rest of Grey Rabbit Finance’s claims in future posts.
But I have to address something far worse: his misuse of the Bible.
I realize Crypto Confidence is not a theological newsletter, but Grey Rabbit’s recent article ties Bitcoin into bogus theology and apocalyptic conspiracy theories that drag Scripture through the mud. That crosses a line I cannot ignore.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and have long considered myself a student of Scripture. I know that misusing God’s Word for personal gain is a violation of the Third Commandment: “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” 1
That commandment is not mainly about profanity when someone hits their thumb with a hammer. It is about false prophets who invoke God’s name to legitimize lies. And that is exactly what Grey Rabbit has done.
I am writing this article for two reasons:
So readers of Grey Rabbit will not be pulled into bad theology and spiritual deception.
So the author of Grey Rabbit may reconsider his teaching on Revelation and avoid the judgment that befell the false prophets of Baal.
In future posts I will address his so-called “Bitcoin theories.” They are lies, but they do not endanger the soul the way blasphemous misuse of Scripture does. On that count, Grey Rabbit now stands in the company of Balaam and Simon Magus, men who turned spiritual truth into self-promotion.
The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 16: 13-19
Grey Rabbit quotes extensively from the book of Revelation, one of the most difficult books of the Bible to interpret. But Scripture interprets Scripture, and clear passages help us understand harder ones. Here is something simple you can take to the bank: Jesus will build His Church, and the gates of Hell will not overcome it.
Notice that Hell has gates. Gates are defensive structures. Jesus pictures evil as a city under siege and the Church as the invading army. Hell is on the defense and Hell is losing. In fact, Hell has already lost.
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Colossians 2:13-15
The “rulers and authorities” refer to fallen angels and the spiritual enemies of God who once ruled over humanity. But not anymore. They are disarmed. They are defeated. They have been triumphed over by Christ.
That is great news. But what does this have to do with Grey Rabbit? Let’s take a look at some of his quotes.
Grey Rabbit Inverses the Message of Christ
I shall first let Grey Rabbit speak for himself. If you want to confirm my quotations are accurate please see the link I provided above.
In biblical terms, BSV embodies the Dragon of the book of Revelation: global, powerful, and ready.
Here the dragon empowers the beast system, which is often interpreted as global centralized monetary/political control.
The beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth like a lion’s mouth. And the dragon gave it his power and his throne and great authority.” – Revelation 12:9
This confirms the dragon’s identity as the ultimate adversary, temporarily restrained before final judgment.
“And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” – Revelation 20:1-2
Behind the tech-geek façade of the great chain (blockchain) lurks Abaddon the Destroyer, the angel of the abyss:
They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer). – Revelation 9:11
Central bankers crave total control. By tokenizing all assets on a globally scalable blockchain, they can capture every single transaction. Forced use of Digital IDs—the modern Mark of the Beast—gives them power over every facet of life:
“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” – Revelation 13:17
BSV stands as the only cryptocurrency compliant with WEF standards and was showcased at the World Economic Forum in Davos this past January.
This is the Digital Gulag, and BSV is the “Dragon” binding the earth with chains through teranode.
I am sure Grey Rabbit would argue that he believes Christ will win in the end. Yet the picture he paints is one in which the gates of Hell prevail against the Church until the return of Christ. In the theology presented above there is:
No limitation of the Devil: “BSV embodies the Dragon... global, powerful, and ready.”
No mention of Christ’s victory over the Devil.
Total victory of the Devil: “binding the earth with chains.”
Totalitarian power given to the Devil with no reference to the sovereignty of God.
This is not eschatological realism, which acknowledges that the Devil still causes suffering while the Church waits for her glorious hope. It is eschatological defeatism, where the Devil runs amok and the Church is powerless to resist him.
But Scripture is clear. The gates of Hell will not overcome the Church. Christ is already victorious, and His people are not hiding behind the walls. They are storming them.
Grey Rabbit Cherry Picking Revelation
I could stop here. The fact that he presents the Devil as the invader and the Church as the gates being stormed is enough to close the book on his theology. But I won’t. I don’t want you, my Crypto Confidence friends, to ever take this person’s theology seriously again.
Grey Rabbit bounces around Revelation and ignores the context. Instead, he pulls out images and mixes and matches them to make the Bible say whatever he wants.
He “quotes” from Revelation 13:2 but claims it’s from Revelation 12:9.
Misuses Revelation 20:1–2: The passage shows God’s angel from heaven binding Satan with a chain, symbolizing Christ’s victory. Grey Rabbit twists this by connecting the “great chain” to blockchain technology and claiming it empowers Abaddon the Destroyer. In Scripture, the chain defeats and binds evil. In his version, it strengthens it.
Skips the ending of Revelation entirely, leaving out the part where Christ defeats the dragon and reigns forever.
In other words, this guy gets nothing right about the Bible or the book of Revelation except that he occasionally gets the correct quotation. There is no reason to believe he is correct about his theology. Why listen to anything else?
A Note on My Intentions
I am defending the truth because Grey Rabbit dragged the Bible into this debate. My concern here is not the market value of Bitcoin, but the misuse of Scripture to promote fear and confusion. You can believe whatever you want about cryptocurrency. But twisting God’s Word to make a point about technology is something entirely different.
Final Word
Thank you for carefully considering my article about Grey Rabbit.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:15

In Catholic and Lutheran numbering this is considered the Second Commandment, since those traditions combine the first two into one. While the numbering may be different, the meaning stays the same: it forbids using God’s name falsely, trivially, or for personal gain.

I came to the same conclusion with BSV so it’s nice to see someone else can see what’s going on. Great read!
very interesting.... thank you. That's pretty much spot on regarding my comment to Grey Rabbit. Whenever I see something, as red -pill-ey as it may appear, which leaves me feeling depressed and fearful, I don't think that's my cup of tea. Christ defeats the dragon and reigns forever. Period. Love wins. Game over. I cannot operate outside of that knowing, as seductive as it may be.
